A review of industry trends at BVE 2016

Broadcast Video Expo (BVE) is the UK’s largest broadcast, production and media technology event. The expo, attended by 12,000 professionals, showcases the industry’s best work and latest innovations.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM BVE 2016

The future of story telling
Representatives from Cloud Edits and MSV Post led this much-needed session on new technology’s influence on storytelling in broadcast. Cloud Edit’s Director, Caroline Law, and MSV Post’s Head of Post Production, Edurne Bengoa, drew on a wealth of experience as they predicted future trends. Caroline and Edburne’s session assured that quality storytelling is driving technological advancements – not the other way around.

Audiences were wondering how Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) will change how their favourite media; this session restated broadcasters’ commitment to their audience’s expectations. Good story telling is going to remain at the heart of broadcast media.

Blackbird reminding us that all words are made up
Blackbird provide cloud-based video production and delivery tools. Their solutions focus on streamlining production and facilitating real-time collaboration on video editing. Product Forscrene is a prime example of their work.

Blackbird brought their product’s brand to life through demonstrations at their exhibitor’s stand, introducing “Forscene-isms”, the product’s own language; ‘Repoview’ means approving or commenting on onto a video edit timeline; ‘Socialish’ means publishing the video straight onto social.

The industry is creating technology as a pace like never seen before; maybe Blackbird are making a point that our  language needs to catch up.

Timeline TV’s BVE stand presence
Client Timeline TV hosted an impressive sponsor stand, as the broadcast experts were one of BVE’s main exhibitors for 2016, showcasing their portfolio in all aspects of inside and outside broadcasts. Timeline TV’s stand highlighted their experience of bringing creative solutions to unique broadcasts and their impressive technical accomplishments. Their work spans BBC Sport’s coverage of the Olympics to documentaries for Channel 4 HD.
